Army of Tehn
Little remains of the army of Tehn. After the assault from the tribes and monsters of the North from Stonehold the millitary of the Duchy of Tehn is much reduced. Vast amounts of men and women are dead, fled or taken prisoner. Many of the dead and captive were in the army, before the duchy capitulated, the Duke fled his country and most of Tehn was lost to monsters and banditry.
What small portion of the army that remained intact until the bitter end found themselves pushed further south then the capital, which had been lost some time past, in a large, relatively insignificant town of Redspan. With nowhere to retreat to, and bereft of their figurehead, Marshal Vallard, the leader of the army, called a halt and decided to remain and steady what was left of them at the town.
Over time, the small army built up the town and remained until now. Redspan has become a small city, the largest human settlement left in Tehn. It is ruled by a mayor, though Marshall Vallard holds enough influence and sway to rule if desired. The current army of Tehn, still much reduced, is stationed to stay at Redspan.
The army sends men and patrols into the countryside, mostly nearby to Redspan and other small settlements, mostly in southern Tehn. Despite their desires, the Tehn army lacks the manpower to remove the monstrous threat that has invaded the land. So they stay in Redspan, build further defences and offer what aid they can to the nearby forces of good.
Despite the sad situation, Marshall Vallard and his senior staff have done an excellent job in maintaining morale. All members of the army are adequately housed and most have a secondary job to keep busy beyond guard duty.
Redspan is constantly tried and tested by the monsters who lurk without. The growing defences are always in need and always well defended. With a standing army, Redspan has forces in rotation actively guarding, scouting, patrolling and a small reserve of readied men in emergency.
The Army of Tehn, while much smaller than it has been in the past, is powerful and well trained after years of constant raids and defence. The men are well armed and accept recruits as well, though the number of recruits remains low.
